T is for This Week
It's been one week since you looked at me

I had a concept for a newsletter where all the pictures are from the week leading up that newsletter issue. Before shelter-in-place I had big dreams of finishing a whole roll of film and getting the scans just in time, but uh, that definitely didn’t happen.
The core concept lived on through this newsletter, it’s pictures all taken since last Wednesday, a little snapshot of my week and what’s going on. Most of my week these days is indoors at my desk, but I do venture out to swim a little bit in the mornings, and to take a walk to get some fresh air here and there. And also to get groceries.
And with that, let’s look at this week in pictures!
March 2020. Pacific Heights (San Francisco, CA)
This is the wall in my living room. It’s opposite my desk, so it’s usually peeking out behind my head when I’m on video calls, which are more and more a part of my everyday life. This is essentially my trophy wall, a way to not-so-subtly brag about the big swims I’ve done: the Potomac River, Lake Tahoe, Catalina, the Strait of Gibraltar, the English Channel (and the North Channel), and the Manhattan 20 Bridges swim. The maps all come from a company called Woodchart Maps and I order them through a local retailer in the Mission, Aldea.
March 2020. Aquatic Park (San Francisco, CA)
Aquatic Park! Same old, same old, I guess. Instead of going inside the swim club to change and having access to a shower and sauna after, we’re just going in from the concrete bleachers on the beach. Walking over one morning, the sunrise was stellar and it was really a pleasure to be able witness it. It’s been good for me to keep this part of my routine during all this.
March 2020. Fillmore St. (San Francisco, CA)
Quite a few shops on Fillmore St. have boarded themselves up during the COVID-19 shelter-in-place. One day when walking to get some food, I noticed that Heidi Says, a boutique, was boarded up, but they had also hired a muralist to paint over their plywood. One the one hand, I think it’s a cute touch, and a great way to keep hiring local artists. On the other hand, isn’t it a hazard for an artist to be outside for hours while any number of people who may or may not be COVID-19 carriers walk by? Either way, this was a notable part of my week.
March 2020. Pacific Ave. (San Francisco, CA)
I took a long stroll down my street on Sunday. I found these pigeons having a pizza party. They didn’t spook when I got nearby, so I was able to get this picture of them, all pouncing on this pizza. I mean, pizza tastes pretty great, so I really can’t blame the pigeons. Anyways, this moment was just a small moment in the week that stood out, so it made the cut.
That’s it! That’s my week in pictures! The only things missing are me working during the day and playing a bunch of Animal Crossing in my time off. See you all next time!
